| Sriperumbudur – Tamil Nadu government on October 13 announced that iPhone maker Foxconn has committed to invest Rs 15,000 crore and the creation of 14,000 jobs in the state. Moreover, the state’s investment promotion agency Guidance Tamil Nadu will set up a separate desk for the Taiwanese company for quick regulatory approvals, the minister said. “Yet another major boost for Tamil Nadu’s electronics and advanced manufacturing sector as Honourable @CMOTamilNadu Thiru. @MKStalin avargal met with Foxconn’s India Representative Mr. Robert Wu to reaffirm their deep trust in Tamil Nadu with substantial investment commitments,” he said. The iPhone maker will its next phase of value-added manufacturing, R&D integration and AI-led advanced tech operations to Tamil Nadu, Rajaa said. Foxconn’s decision to invest in Tamil Nadu aligns with its plans to reduce dependency on Chinese imports and expand local production capabilities. The assembly unit will be located at the ESR Oragadam Industrial & Logistics Park near Chennai, complementing Foxconn’s existing smartphone assembly operations. Foxconn’s project is not only a major win for job creation in Tamil Nadu but also for India’s overall efforts to become a global electronics manufacturing hub. Foxconn’s assembly unit will be designed to supply components to other contract manufacturers like Pegatron and Tata Electronics, reducing reliance on imports from China.
