| Mumbai – Indian Stock Market fell today with benchmark Sensex declining 173.77 points while Nifty declined 58 points resulting from the downtrend in market majors between 1% and 2.7%. The 30 stocks BSE closed the day at 82,372.05 while NSE closes at 25,227.35. Tata Motors, Infosys, Hindustan Unilever, Power Grid, Bharat Electronics, ITC, UltraTech Cement and Tata Consultancy Services were the major laggards. However, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv and Axis Bank were among the gainers. According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 459.20 crore on Friday. Renewed trade tensions between Washington and Beijing have stoked fears of persistent inflation and higher interest rates in the U.S. Elevated Treasury yields often draw capital away from emerging markets such as India, pressuring equities and currencies alike. |
